A safety switch is a device used to protect people or equipment from injury or damage. It is usually in the form of a button or lever that, when activated, interrupts the flow of electricity to whatever it is protecting. Safety switches activate in around .03 of a second, cutting the supply of electricity to the circuit fast enough to prevent serious harm from an electric shock.
